ETI's focus on e-learning has resulted in a number of educational CD-ROMs and Web sites targeted at both secondary school and university level students.

EMBER

EMBER
An online practical designed to introduce a range of bioinformatics services, databases and software available on the web. ETI has developed this European Union-sponsored Web site in partnership with the University of Manchester (UK). The site (also available in an offline CD-ROM-based version) includes self-assessment exercises to test students' grasp of the material. 5 Kingdoms

Five Kingdoms
A CD-ROM-based version of Five Kingdoms - The Phyla of Life on Earth, the standard university biology textbook. This electronic reference guide provides an expert overview of our planet's biodiversity: the kingdoms of bacteria, protoctista, fungi, plants and animals. The CD-ROM lets you browse or search through hyperlinked descriptions of all of the 96 phyla living today, and features a wealth of photos, drawings, and video clips.

Wadverkenner

De Wadverkenner/Die Watt-experte
An interactive guide to the Wadden Sea, containing extensive information about this unique marine area along the coasts of Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. This CD-ROM, available in both Dutch and German, features 3D animation and virtual reality views of different locations in the Wadden Sea area, and also allows you to make a virtual journey along the many islands, learning about the area along the way.
