ETI has built database-driven Web sites using a range of different technologies, such as PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL and Apache. Here are some examples of the sites we have built:
 |
Netherlands Biodiversity Information Facility (NLBIF) ETI has developed and maintains the website of NLBIF, the Dutch node of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility. The site is powered by Zope (an open source web application server) and based on the GBIF Portal Toolkit. Some databases on this website are programmed in PHP/MySQL.

Catalogue of Life: 2006 Annual Checklist
The Species 2000/ITIS Catalogue of Life program aims to create a uniform and validated index to the world's known species. The Annual Checklist is a single database compiled annually. The 2006 edition includes names for close to 900.000 taxa and is available both online and as a standalone CD-ROM. ETI has transferred the original Microsoft Access database to an optimized MySQL database and designed and built the Web front end using PHP and JavaScript.

Fauna Europaea
Fauna Europaea has assembled a database of the scientific names and distribution of all living multicellular European land and fresh-water animals. ETI has designed the website and programmed both the PHP code querying the Oracle database and the link to a Java-based online GIS system.

Zoological Museum Amsterdam (ZMA) - Online collections
An online search facility for seven ZMA collection databases (Amphibia/Reptilia, Aves, Bryozoa, Coelenterata, Coleoptera, Diptera and Porifera). The website uses a combination of PHP and MySQL. Through the Distributed Generic Information Retrieval (DiGIR) protocol, the collection data is also searchable at the GBIF Data Portal.

Nationaal Herbarium Nederland (NHN) - Online collections
This website allows online access to (label) data originating from collections kept at the NHN. The BRAHMS database used for this project is queried using Oopweb technology.
