This CD-ROM contains information on nearly 900 mushrooms which occur in Britain and the continental lowlands. All species are illustrated with over 1100 beautiful colour photographs. Species are provided with short and pithy descriptions based on their appearance, spore print colour, (dis)colouration patterns, seasonal distribution, smell, taste and edibility or toxicity. Look-a-likes are listed of mushrooms which closely resemble related species. The status of rareness for threatened mushrooms was taken from the Red Data List. Beyond the scope of species descriptions, the CD-ROM also contains information on biological classifications, life cycles and ways of reproduction. A glossary and information on higher taxa are instantly available by clicking on hot links in the text. It is possible to identify mushrooms to species or genus level with an interactive key.
