The information system on this group was compiled by the ETI-Chile center at the University of Concepción, using the Linnaeus II 2.0 software. Of the 254 species in the system, 21 are of economical importance, in particular crabs and shrimps. For each species a detailed description is provided (morphology, geographical and bathymetrical distribution) including numerous color and black and white drawings and photos as well as a video on the ecology of the species Pleuroncodes monodon. An easy to use interactive identification key to all species and an extensive literature reference database make part of the system. This CD-ROM is an excellent information medium for scientists and students in marine biology, biodiversity and environmental studies.
