| How to obtain Linnaeus II | |||||||||||||||||||||
|
Linnaeus II software is available for free to ETI Partners. Scientists who work at a university, natural history museum, herbarium, research institution or such may obtain Linnaeus II free of charge. They will be asked to join the ETI Partner Network. This extensive and worldwide network of taxonomists, ecologists and biodiversity specialists aims at collecting quality data on the earth's biological resources and publishing this in the Linnaeus II format on CD-ROM and ETI's online World Biodiversity Database. It is ETI's mission to make these basic biodiversity data worldwide available to support a responsible use and management of biodiversity resources. In return for the Linnaeus II software package, ETI requests a contribution of taxonomic, biodiversity data and related information to its World Biodiversity Database. Contributions may be small or big, it is a way in which you can contribute to documenting the Earth's biodiversity resources and to make this information worldwide available. The copyrights on the data remain with the author or contributor, you merely transfer the right for publication in the World Biodiversity Database to ETI. This means you can always use or publish the data again in printed or electronic form. Completed species monographs or biodiversity information systems in the Linnaeus II format can be published on CD-ROM, as part of ETI's World Biodiversity Database CD-ROM Series. This publication service is fully subsidized by ETI and its sponsors. Royalties will be paid to authors in a similar way to traditional (book) publications. When downloading Linnaeus, you will be asked to become an ETI Partner. In the process, you can optionally sign up for the World Taxonomist Database. We kindly request existing ETI Partners to follow the same procedure. > Request a copy of Linnaeus II If you don't intend to become an ETI Partner The Linnaeus II 2.x software for species identification and biodiversity documentation can be purchased at ETI's head office. The package costs 459,- euro for a single user version, including the detailed users manual and online technical support. For details and orders please contact ETI.
