Linnaeus II hints and tips - Checklist

Once your Linnaeus II system reaches completion, it is handy to follow the checklist given below.

General

  • Text formatted consistently throughout?
  • Fonts and font size consistent throughout?
  • Bold and italics properly used?
  • If RTF-import has been used—any special characters used that may have transformed during import?
  • Check for extra spaces in name fields, they may cause links to fail.
  • Check topic names and texts for the introduction. Is it complete?
  • Do you want multimedia links inside the texts (put between brackets for better legibility).
  • Are there any special modules required? Read manual on how to build them.
  • Do illustrations include the name of the photographer/illustrator?
  • Did you check for copyrights to be respected and dealt with properly?
  • Did you save all your pictures in RGB mode?

Taxonomic modules (Higher Taxa and Species)

  • Classification up to date?
  • Number of taxa complete?
  • Author (and year) given for each taxon?
  • All descriptions completed?
  • Are field characters given (Species)?
  • Is there a comparative description, optionally with link to familiar taxa (Species)?
  • Habitat descriptions given (Species)?
  • Distribution data included (Species)?
  • Natural history data included (Species)?
  • Correct use of [ and ] in Synonyms field, use only for common names.
  • Use a | after a synonym if it should be included in the Index.
  • Caption texts for all multimedia complete?

Literature

  • Standards as outlined in manual followed?
